Today we will continue with the 3rd promise from our 4-part series in which we are pinpointing ways moms can celebrate and rely on God’s promises for us. We hope you are enjoying this month of Mondays as we explore specific verses of scripture and discover what they might mean for us today.
Some days we just feel tired and completely not up to the task of being a mom. And all the moms nodded their heads in agreement.
Have you ever been at a point in the middle of a crazy-hard season as a mom, where you just don’t know how this whole thing is going to work?
Have you ever realized you were carrying burdens you were never meant to carry?
Have you ever known for sure you didn’t have the strength to keep up with the pace of your life?
I know I have. So many times.
The Apostle Paul was in prison in Rome around 62 A.D.at the time he wrote the letter to the believers at Philippi (who were a great help and joy to him) that turned into the book of Philippians in the Bible. At the time, Paul wasn’t even sure he was going to make it out alive. But he had found a way to be content no matter the circumstances he found himself in, and he told the Philippians so. Christ was more than enough for him. Christ’s strength was more than enough to carry him through whatever he might face. I love the words he wrote as he gets ready to close out the letter: “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
It’s the same for us.
While we may not be imprisoned or persecuted for our faith, we are facing trials every day that are too much on our own strength.
Christ says He will be our portion and our strength.
When we’re weak, He is strong.
May we call on His holy name for strength as we pull back the covers and begin a new day. As we are up for the fourth time in a night, begging for sleep. As we are weary of praying the same prayers for the same child. For every task that is God-given (mothering definitely makes that list), Christ’s strength goes with.
He will give you strength. You can count on it.
