We’re keeping it simple around here at The Masterpiece Mom this weekend. These are just a few fun things that have been bouncing around our minds (and mouths) throughout the week.
Anne-Renee: Labradoodle. Some friends of ours just got an adorable 14-week-old puppy. And let me tell you, he is the sweetest thing ever! And not only is he cute and soft and cuddly, but he’s a Labradoodle. That word is just so stinkin’ fun to say!
Amanda: Bullet Journal. This little note-taking system has rocked my world this week. A friend has mentioned it on her blog and in other spaces over the last year or so, and I knew it was something I needed to check out. My scatterbrained self has had trouble remembering everything from appointments to ideas, calling people back to to-do’s even though my attempts at jotting it all down in my planner or taking note of it in my phone have been genuine. Putting pen to paper is one of my very favorite things, so this method is a dream-come-true. My journal goes everywhere with me. That way, not one fleeting flash of brilliance or remembrance will fly the coop. For now I’m using a composition notebook, but I’ve found the pages to be too thin. So I’ve been skipping pages so the ink won’t bleed or show through and that’s lame. So I ordered something that looks like it will be a good solution. And it’s red. I’m sorta crazy about red. Click the Bullet Journal link above and watch the short little video on the homepage — it’s pure genius for those wanting an analog way of keeping it all together.
Anne-Renee: Grilled Pineapple. Mmmm. I just can’t help myself. It’s soooo good. If the word succulent could describe only one thing, it would be grilled pineapple. Barbecuing seems to make all the juiciness and sweetness hide inside the pineapple until you take a bite. And then, look out! It will explode flavor onto your tongue like nothing you’ve ever eaten before. Perfect food for March, when summer seems so far away and spring just can’t seem to come soon enough. ~ My second fave flavor (because I couldn’t narrow it down and I really like food) is Heaven. Yes, you read that right. I tried out a new latte flavor this week and its name was Heaven. And it was, well, just that: absolutely heavenly. The barista said it was a mixture of caramel and coconut and some other ingredient which I can’t remember now (maybe vanilla?). But let me tell ya, it was delish!
Amanda: Better Stevia Liquid Sweetener. Sigh. Though I much prefer the sugary sweetness of Peppermint Mocha creamer in my coffee, sugar is not my friend. In fact, whenever I have sugar I wake up the next day feeling a.w.f.u.l. and achy. There are some health issues at play here that I’ve been working to remedy for the last couple of years, but one thing I’ve learned to do is to replace sugar with something better for me. Enter stevia. The other day I was wandering around our local health food store when I found Better Stevia drops in Cinnamon Vanilla flavor. Mixed with half and half in my coffee, it works. I mean really works.
Anne-Renee: Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker. So I am officially in love with our Bose. Of course besides the fact that it has incredible sound and adds ambiance to our home, it has a turquoise case that simply makes me smile. Sometimes I walk into the kitchen just to look at it sitting there all comfy next to the toaster. It may be small, but for a little fella, it’s awfully powerful.
Amanda: ESV Bible app. This year, I’m reading through the One Year Chronological Bible. It’s my first time reading all the way through the Bible, but it’s not my first attempt. Ahem. In the last several weeks, I’ve been trucking through Leviticus and Numbers. Honestly it’s been a little rough for me to internalize the words. So when it gets tough for me to physically read and follow what it’s saying, I let someone else read to me. Enter the ESV app. If you click down near the bottom of the screen once you’ve found the passage you’d like to be on, the word LISTEN will appear. Then click again at the top of the screen to begin. Amen and amen.
Anne-Renee: Philippians 4:19 — “And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
It doesn’t say “did provide” but “WILL provide” — it’s not just a past event, but promise of a future action. God’s gracious provision in play.
Amanda: Joshua 1:9 — “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
When it comes to trepidations about the future, this verse calms me. It helps me to remember God is master of it all. My fears have no place when I take this to heart.
Our prayer for you this weekend is that you will soak up time with the Lord, carve out memorable moments with your family, and intentionally look for the fingerprints of our amazing Creator wherever you go. For He is at work — if we only have eyes to see!
