These Are a Few of My Favorite ING’s {Masterpiece Weekend}

These weekend features are to remind us of all of the INGs of life. The Doing. The Nothing. The Speaking (of the Holy Spirit). The Listening (of our hearts).

Masterpiece WeekendAnd while you’re compiling your own list of INGs, I’ll share with you a few of mine as we move into the weekend. (Doesn’t that title at the top of the page make you want to burst out in song, Sound-of-Music style?! Maybe just a little bit…?)

READING:
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve found great satisfaction and enjoyment from reading. I especially love it when what I’m reading strikes a cord with my heart and brain, connecting the two in a harmonious medley. Words, if we’re not paying attention, can go in one ear and out the other. Or, words can form a brilliant picture in the mind of the reader, igniting the heart, and inspire change.

Holley Gerth’s writing does that for me. It takes the unspoken longings of my heart and introduces them to powerful practical application. Here’s what I’m talking about: Hope When You Feel Like Running.

Another post that really resonated with me this week was this one from Alicia Bruxvoort.

LISTENING:
One of my brothers introduced me to this life-changing podcast. (Thanks bro!) As you may know, I’ve become a bit obsessed with podcasts as of late, and this particular one’s got a serious kick to it. Dewey’s passion for Scripture and gift at making it come alive is clearly evident as you listen to his teaching. Interested? Check it out here.

EATING:
And what am I doing while accomplishing all this reading and listening? Eating! My current fave is Watermelon Salsa. It solves the age-old question: What do you do with the rounded ends of a watermelon that seem too awkward to leave in slices? Make them into salsa of course! Add a little cucumber, tomato, red onion, mint, cilantro, lime juice and salt (don’t worry – I’ll add the recipe), then grab your favorite tortilla chips and enjoy the mouth-watering goodness of this fabulous food. (Mmmm. Writing about it is making me a little bit hungry. I’m off to the kitchen.)

Have a wonderful weekend, friends! May you see the fingerprints of the Creator wherever you go!

Until next time…

What INGs are you looking forward to this weekend? Care to share with the rest of us?
