Frolicking Through Fall and Pondering Love {Masterpiece Weekend}

Masterpiece WeekendThese weekend features are to remind us of all the INGs of life. The Doing. The Nothing. The Speaking (of the Holy Spirit). The Listening (of our hearts).

Fall is hands-down my favorite season of all. Like God Himself is showing off a bit with His ability to create vibrancy and variation after a summer filled with blossoms and green. From the first leaf that transforms its glorious exterior, to the last leaf slowly tumbling down the branches, I am in awe.

Watching Fall unfold her splendor before the blanket of winter covers her up is kind of like eating something exceptionally delicious. You know, the finger-licking food that makes you smack your gums and nod your head in pleasure, voicing “YUM” with each new bite.

Every drive, every walk through the leaves, I find myself exclaiming over and over, “It’s SO gorgeous!” Like a song on Repeat, I keep telling my family with each new burst of beauty, “Look at the amazing colors, you guys,” hoping my words will magically open their eyes and hearts to the wonder and creativity of our God; praying they will see nature as just one more way God reveals His love for us, His children.

leaves“Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, Your justice like the great deep…How priceless is Your unfailing love!”  ~ Psalm 36:5-7

 “…And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”  ~ Ephesians 3:17-18

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” ~ Romans 5:8

Seasons of ChangeThere are literally hundreds of verses sprinkled through the scriptures that highlight this astounding concept of love: God’s love for us, how we should love Him, and His desire for us to love each other.

As I shared in Monday’s post, love is all around us…IF we have eyes to see it.

This weekend, as we relish the glory of fall, immersing ourselves in God’s majesty and love, may we boomerang that same love right back out into the world. They need to see and hear His love too.

Just for fun, here are some posts on love (and a few songs too). Now with the songs, I do have one request. Listen long and listen loud. You don’t have to watch the videos — I personally like the songs better when I’m not watching them. {Although “Love Never Fails” has a super cute video that accompanies it. It’s a peppy happy melody that will make your heart sing. Promise. So crank it up, lift your hands to the sky, and dance away, my friend. I won’t judge.} May the message of love soak down into the inner parts of your heart that you too will want to proclaim to our hurting world: How marvelous is His love!!!
